Pulau Ubin....finally

Thanks to Arthur and Nancy who suggested going to Pulau Ubin, else we won't have made it. Have been talking about it but as usual, kept procrastinating the plan. The bumboat ride is still the same as many years ago, the jetty looks and feel better, but the bike shops and coffeeshops near the jetty all looks the same. We were lucky that there was a thick overcast , so it never get too hot. Drizzle for a while, but cleared up pretty quickly. The girls enjoyed picking weeds and wild flowers, and the cycling was quite fun, a mixture of paved roads and gravel and muddy paths, some slopes here and there. Glad the children managed to complete the course.
Lunch at Sim Lum Huat was really good. Try the MeeGoreng and Fried Bee Hoon, simply yummy!! The crab beehoon was good too (but can't compare to SinHuat coffee shop in Geylang still). All in all, we had a great time!

Weekend in Bintan!!

Finally made myself sit down to update the blog, especially since we did something different last weekend - went to Bintan -Angsana Resort! The pictures tell half the story of white sandy beach, blue sky (rained on saturday afternoon, but we took advantage of it --> Napped!), carefree fishes in clear water, some jelly fish ecounters, plenty of hermit crabs, romantic settings for private dinners on the beach (not for us, of course!). The other half of the story : pricy food in the hotel restaurants (US$6 for bottled water in the cafe)! For one weekend, ok lah, we still allow ourselves to splurge (by our standard) a little on buffet breakfast and meals in the cafe, since if we hired a car out to town would mean easily $$$40 on transport, 45 minutes of travel, and probably another $$$30 for a no-guarantee-to-be-nice meal.
It's really wonderful to swim in clean sea with soft sandy beach, in the midst of nature....once in a year would be a good idea.... hmmm.. slept with a smile on my face last night... :)
